I was born in 1961 in the seaside town of Morecambe, Lancashire. But I didn't stay their long and my formative years were spent in St Helen's a stone's throw from the Rugby ground. In 1970 we moved to West Kirby on the Wirral, where my mother still lives.
Academically, I was inconsistent at best, although I managed to end up with a grammar school education, and some GSCE's to my name.
